It is recommended that the Pill not be restarted until four weeks after delivering. This delay is to allow some of the changes in the coagulation system that occurred during pregnancy, to return to normal. These coagulation changes are only important if the pregnancy continued beyond three months. It’s also quite possible to conceive during this six-week period prior to restarting Cyclessa®, so a barrier contraceptive should be used.
.: The Pill & Breast-Feeding
You may wonder what impact the Pill will have on breast-feeding. Since the Pill can decrease the amount and quality of breast milk produced you should not use combined oral contraceptives (COC) while breast-feeding.
It is quite possible to conceive while breast-feeding so an alternative form of contraception should be used. If feasible, it is advisable not to use the Pill while breast-feeding but use alternative forms of contraception.
.: The Pill & Miscarriage
If you’ve had the misfortune to experience a miscarriage (or D+C) and don’t wish to conceive immediately, the Pill can be started on the same day as the procedure or delayed until your next menstrual period. The Pill must be taken for seven consecutive days in order to be effective.
